Why risk your business on another system?
The iSeries is a business system made by IBM. It is the
only system where the relational data base is integrated with the
operating system. The following are some iSeries
features:
- Fastest business super computer in the world.
- Serves: Email, Domino, HTTP, Win2000, Apachy, FTP, DB2/400,
SQL, Linux, AIX, DNS.
- File serving for iSeries, Windows and Unix.
- Communications with other computers and devices.
- Open, most applications sold with source code (most
windows applications do not come with Source).
- Reliability, 61 months between hardware failure. In
the last 10 years, I have never
had to re-boot an iSeries
because of software. I have not had a hardware failure in
the last 4 years on the iSeries. The iSeries I work
on has 300 users running 24 hours per day and 7 days a week.
Applications running on the iSeries can crash,
but they don't lock up the whole system.
- Scalability (1 user to 800,000 users), 1 processer to 32, clustering, Logical partitions. 1 iSeries can replace an entire server farm.
Synchronized remote system.
- Internet, CGI, Java, PHP, websphere, domino, email, FTP, Sockets.
- Programmable, RPG, COBOL, Java, Visual RPG, C.
- Graphical terminals Client Access, web browser (HTML, XML, java
script), Telnet.
- Software Asset Protection, programs written 40 years ago still run today. Other platforms require you to rewrite every few years (Dos Basic to Visual basic to VB.net). I know companies still running on windows 3.1 because they didn't want to rewrite DOS applications. Businesses spend more on Software Applications than they do on Operating systems and languages.
